Addictive series. Great for binge reading.

From LINGER 1 to LINGER 4: HERE THERE BE MONSTERS, you will be hooked as you travel from city to city with Christopher, Kate and Noah on their quest to stop the mastermind behind unspeakable crimes--the man they call the Beast.

Each book unravels new twists and challenges that the characters must confront, solve and most of all, keep themselves out of the clutches of the Beast’s torturous plans for them.

In LINGER 4: Here There Be Monsters, I was again hooked into the plot immediately and became captivated by the storyline and the secondary characters, each added yet another layer of mystery and suspense. In this novel, we are introduced to a few secondary colorful characters, creating a perfect balance to lighten up the intense scenes.

The author pulls you in flawlessly, and you feel you are right there with the characters, as they battle their own internal demons as they fight to stay one step ahead of the Beast.

I got chills reading about the real-life atrocities in the Texas Killing Fields. The strength of the author’s writing allowed him to take a real-life, tragic landmark and utilize it into the story in a gripping, realistic manner, adding to the grit and suspense of the series theme.

The circumstances in which the three protagonists find themselves in, include supernatural elements; however, those elements are interlaced into the storylines in a believable manner, filled with emotion and vulnerabilities, making each character and their own personal journey and their team effort relatable.

You will find yourself caring about each character, and looking forward to the next book, as the layers are peeled back, and you will not only root for them, but you will look forward to getting to know even more about Noah, Christopher and Kate.

The author does an excellent job at weaving in a back-story for each character, and allowing the reader access to what is tearing at their souls as they use their gifts and strengths to face a new day, in a new city on their tiring, and at times, gut-wrenching and always dangerous journey to bring down the Beast.

Their decisions and actions make it seem real, and the writing brings the reader into the story so much so, you feel as if you are right there with each of one them.

In LINGER 4: Here There Be Monsters, Christopher, Kate and Noah find themselves in Texas, risking their lives as they are led into a maze filled with terrifying consequences, especially for Kate.

I got chills imagining myself in Kate’s situation, which for me is the sign of an imaginative, strong writer.

Gritty, suspenseful, edge of your seat suspense, LINGER 4: Here There Be Monsters, as like the other three books before, does not disappoint.

This story unfolds at a good pace, allowing the reader time to get accustomed to the new city, to the developing relationship each character has with each other, and building up to a nail-biting climax that will have you holding your breath.

Chills and thrills!

This book scared the living daylights out of me! You could cut the tension with a knife. I loved the female cop--what a tough lady--and Edward Fallon clearly knows from law enforcement.

But what really got me was the suspense--it was just like the screws on a violin. With every twist and turn, the screws got tighter.

I started with this book. It's so good, I will be going back to read the other volumes.

After coming up empty handed in Texarkana, Texas, Kate persuades Weston and Christopher to head to Austin. Kate uses her contacts from her past in law enforcement to obtain a speedy private investigator license that allows her to carry concealed weapons.

While in Austin the team is drawn to the Texas Killing Fields where countless bodies have been discovered dumped since the 1970’s. When they get to Austin, Christopher begins having seizures and crying out about “Monsters”. This leads to Kate investigating on her own while Weston cares for Christopher which puts Kate in grave danger.

Linger 4 kept me up reading into the wee hours to find out if Kate would survive this investigation. The pace of this series does not slow down one bit in Linger 4. I couldn’t read it fast enough to find out what was going to happen. Here There Be Monsters just whets ones appetite for more in this series.

About the Author
Raghu Raman has had a unique mix of career experiences beginning with a decade long stint in the Indian Army, during which he saw operations in Punjab, commanded an active post in the Siachen Glacier, followed by a tour of duty in war-torn Angola as a UN peacekeeper. His last stint with the army was as an instructor at the prestigious School of Armoured Warfare, Ahmednagar, teaching leadership and combat tactics to Young Officers who were being readied to lead troops into operations. In 1998, Raghu Raman joined the Mahindra Group where he led various group companies, including FirstChoice, Mahindra SSG and the joint venture between BAE and Mahindra, as their CEO. In 2009, he was appointed by the Government of India to create and lead a project initiated after the 26/11 attacks in Mumbai. Raghu Raman has taught leadership, change management, analytics, strategy and persuasion and negotiation skills at leading business schools and organizations as visiting faculty and is a member of the Outstanding Speaker Bureau. He is also a columnist for the leading business newspaper Mint and author of several articles in the area of national security, information technology, strategy and strategic risk management.

Like "Freakonomics" for Security Issues

Raghu Raman's prescient and provocative essays make complex internal security issues understandable and compelling to the non-expert much like Steven Levitt did for economic issues in "Freakonomics" - by asking the right questions and highlighting the interconnections. The essays about everything from military warfare and corporate security to street kids, rapes, and the role of social media challenge individuals and businesses in India and globally about our roles in contributing to national security. I read Raghu's column in "Mint" (the Indian "Wall Street Journal" affiliate) with interest while living in Delhi and welcome the compilation of his insightful essays in "Everyman's War: Strategy, Security and Terrorism in India." And you can feel good about your purchase; all proceeds from the book go to families of India's armed forces who died in the line of duty. My only complaint is that there is no paper version of the book yet available on amazon.

A legendary masterpiece alike Bhagawad Gita - a roadmap

Reflection on a masterpiece takes time. With limitations of vocab and space, this is my justice within the boundaries set by the author. I conduct discourse analysis on Bhagawad Gita. Since the book launch, I have been doing a comparative analysis of the two profound discourses. Raghu Raman's book takes us to the battlefield of Kurukshetra and leaves us perturbed that battle still continues and bodies and souls keep on falling and failing. With intense interpretations and explanations, he handholds every citizen to own up and assume responsibility to secure and restore peace, balance and respect, i.e.Peace: by dealing with crime to nip in the bud and not just treating symptoms halfheartedly; Balance: where all the resources are equitably distributed and where nature is conserved; and Respect: for women, youth and those with special needs or those seeking justice. A holistic approach to security and not a stick and carrot approach. Indirectly, he speaks of a healed awakened society which asks questions, shares solutions and not just life limited to insinuations.

This is where Gita talks of karma yoga and buddhi yoga, both addressed with similar logic. Its about being in state of conscience awareness and being collectively responsible for community. Its about facing the demon of social acceptance of petty crimes committed by kin which are often overlooked due to attachment. When Arjuna wants to avoid fighting using awareness of Krishna consciousness as an excuse, he is reminded Krishna consciousness cannot be practiced or understood unless it is actioned. Just like author describes, no citizen or administration can wash off hands from one's responsibility. Author beautifully sets the outline for a commoner to understand security.He reminds everyone while the routing is available now but every individual must in coherent and collective way complete the design. There is no :one fits all" solution to the socio-political challenges in India. There are some quick wins, sometimes as many bushes and trees leaving one tantalized if its achievable...but the one who remains committed does get past those blind curves and dark alleys and is the superman or superwoman of the nation.

For me, it is a discourse which stands next to Bhagawad Gita. One can take what one wants: change one's life course or leave it on the book shelf. Many have Gita adorning their book case but rare are those whose life is adorned by Gita. For being the chosen one, its their duty to lead the journey of light and purpose.

Thank you for lighting "the flame of the immortal warrior" through your work. This is a true tribute to those soldiers whose names may not be known to us but their deeds and sacrifices are now being taken for granted by us. We must act and stop being complacent.

Marci Alborghetti is the author of numerous books, including Being the Body of Christ: What the People of the Passion teach us about Jesus today, also from Twenty-Third Publications. Her novel, The Christmas Glass, has been published in the U.S. and internationally. Scholarship and Imagination

Marci Alborghetti is a gifted, compelling writer. Written clearly and with great feeling (but without over-sentimentality), People of the Nativity succinctly connects scholarship and imagination.
Reaction is one of the big themes of Alborghetti's latest book. No spoilers here, but you'll learn of Mary's, Joseph's, Anna's, Joachim's, Elizabeth's, Herod's, the serving girl's, and others' reactions to Mary's pregnancy, to claim that she hasn't been touched by any man, that "`the son I carry is from God.'"
The chapter on the serving girl (the seventh) speaks volumes. Alborghetti captures the girl's courage (she defies her master), her kindness and unselfishness to Mary and Joseph as they seek shelter, and the epiphany she has: "The stars! She looked up....It was the light--the star!--that her brother had been talking about these past months....It was small at first, and so far away. It seemed like just another light in the dark sky. There are thousands, millions....But this star was different. Over the months it had become brighter, and it moved closer! To Bethlehem? To me? If I wanted to be named a fool, I might have thought it was coming to me, answering my call." Of course, the star is coming to her, for it "heralds the birth of the king of the Jews, king of kings...."

This book was a great read for the days of Advent! The stories offer insight and details about the "people of the nativity" that are often overlooked and taken for granted. The chapters really "bring to life" the story of the nativity.

Living the story with the people who were there.

This book takes the reader into the lives and hearts of the people who played a role in Jesus coming into the world. You feel with them as react to the events of the story. I'm inspired to use the book as part of an Advent Prayer Service at my church.
