Gene R. Cogorno is a professional educator, speaker, and author with more than 30 years of experience in education and training. He teaches courses in geometric dimensioning and tolerancing and tolerance analysis and instructs technical courses in blueprint reading fundamentals and inspection techniques.

The above reviews refer to the first edition of this book. All of the concerns mentioned in these reviews have been addressed in the second edition.
The second edition of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing for Mechanical Design has been updated to reflect the latest revision of the Dimensioning and Tolerancing standard, ASME Y14.5-2009. Each drawing has been carefully reviewed. Some drawings have been modified to correspond with the new standard; others have been revised for clarity and readability. Thirty-two new drawings have been added - a total of 275 drawings in all are included in this second edition.
This is an introductory textbook. In order to understand the language in this text and in the GD&T standard, the learner must become very familiar with the definitions of the 16 terms listed in chapter 3. Without a thorough understanding of these terms, GD&T concepts can be confusing.
Answers to the chapter review questions and problems are located in two places. They are posted on both McGraw-Hill's website (mhprofessional) and my website. The website addresses are listed at the end of the preface on page X in the book.
On my website, select "GD&T Textbook" from the yellow post-it note menu and select "Answers to Chapter Review Questions and Problems" at the bottom of the page. On the publisher's website, the "Answer Guide" is listed under downloads in the left-hand column under the picture of my book. Also, instructors can download the "Instructors' Guide" from the McGraw-Hill website by selecting, "For Instructors."

Excellent book

The second edition of this book is very nicely done (I never saw the 1st ed). I've been able to learn quite a bit through reading the text and thinking through the examples. There are numerous problems for the reader to solve throughout the text. The solutions are available on the author's website and are detailed and thorough.
I'd recommend this book to engineers wanting to learn about GD&T without the travel and expense of a seminar or short course. You will need to know something about mechanical design and inspection/metrology for the subject to make sense. GD&T is not an easy subject to learn through self-study, but this is the best book I've found so far.

Comprehensive with good illustrations

As a new student to GD&T, I find this text to be helpful with its chapter review questions, end of chapter summaries and illustrations of the symbols and how they are used. The author also explains how some GD&T concepts can be misconceived and warns the reader of these issues by further explanation and illustration.
