There are 3 recently published books covering the physics component of the First FRCR, which are updated to reflect the new curriculum. Out of all of them, I think this one is the best and most comprehensive. All in all, if you were to choose to invest in one book for the Physics module, I would definitely buy this one. Amazon review This book most accurately reflects the level of the FRCR part 1 physics paper. I failed my first attempt at the exam, by preparing using an online service (which shall remain nameless) and some of the lesser MCQ books. My second attempt was successful, in no small part due to this book which, whilst very dry indeed, matches quite closely the actual exam questions in scope and difficulty. If you can get most of the questions in this correct, then you should be fine for the exam.

Key Book to Buy to prepare for Physics FRCR 1 module

This is an excellent text for preparing for the FRCR physics module. The explanations are very helpful in saving time as the exam approaches. I used this along with the Cambridge FRCR 1 physics text and the FRCR get through physics text. Together all bases were covered and the exam was easy. Of all the texts though I found this the best (Buy this one if you can buy only one book) but realistically you do need at least the "get through" as an adjunct to get to see enough variation in question types to handle the exam with ease. The big selling point for this text is the detailed explanations of the answers. The section explaining effective doses does however need a minor revision to be in line with the latest data.

book should be simplified and not too complex. people are reading this book because its easily available( though good in parts) but most of questions dosenot match with exam format
many unnecessary numbers and details are provided, however can be done if one is through textbook very very thoroughly
exam will be based on basic fundamentals and hardly there is ditto question from any MCQ book

Best Chicken Cookbook

After actually trying some of the recipes in A Chicken In Every Pot, I can wholeheartedly endorse this cookbook. The Barcelona Brown Bag Chicken is something a non-professional cook like me can do easily, and still impress my family and friends. And the Bangladesh Drums are to die for. The recipes are also great for someone who doesn't like to cook, like my husband, or for someone who loves to experiment with cooking, like me. This book's wide variety of international recipes shows you how to turn chicken into something you'll want to eat every night. Very few of these recipes appear in other chicken cookbooks I've seen, so you'll want to have this book in your collection.

Thornton Wilder's "Our Town:" a wonderful portrayal of small-town American life at the dawn of the twentieth century.

“Our Town” is Thornton Wilder’s Pulitzer Prize-winning three-act play that depicts life in a fictional New England town at the beginning of the twentieth century. Set in Grover’s Corner, New Hampshire, the play follows the daily lives of two prominent middle-class families: the Gibbses and Webbs, who are next-door neighbors.

Almost a half-century ago, I played the part of Howie Newsome, one of the play’s minor characters, in a high school production of “Our Town.” Nearly five decades later, I had the privilege of playing the Stage Manager in a local community theater production. At that time, I decided to purchase a Kindle edition of the play instead of the more traditional paperback version.

I was very pleasantly surprised at how convenient and useful my Kindle edition of “Our Town” turned out to be. It proved itself excellent, not only for sheer reading enjoyment, but also for its value as a tool for memorizing lines. The print is large and easy to read, and the format of each page makes it easy for users to quickly locate the lines they need to study and commit to memory.

It’s a daunting task trying to describe my deep appreciation for “Our Town,” both as a work of literature and as a dramatic representation of small-town American life at the dawn of the twentieth century. Wilder’s script speaks to what he calls "the eternal in us" with words that I find both a challenge and a comfort. On one level, “Our Town” is simple, folksy, and down-to-earth, but at its core, it’s deeply philosophical.

One reason why “Our Town” resonates with me is the way Thornton Wilder constantly encourages audiences to stretch their imaginations to the fullest. He does this by employing highly innovative dramatic devices – like the lack of scenery and props, and the Stage Manager, who breaks the “fourth wall” and speaks directly to the audience, thereby serving as narrator, sage, philosopher, and oracle.

Our Town comes as close to being a "perfect" play as I’ve ever read. In his Foreword to the “Perennial Classics” Kindle edition, playwright Donald Margulies calls "Our Town" "perhaps THE American play.” I heartily agree with his assessment. Wilder’s wonderful portrayal of small town life is simply masterful, and his hopeful message – that “someday, the eternal in us will come out – clear." – is timeless. Most highly recommended.

Classics that are deserving of the term

Skin of Our Teeth and Our Town both were prize-winning plays. The Matchmaker became one of the most popular musicals of all time - Hello Dolly. Thornton Wilder's plays are in production at countless high schools across the country, and that's a pity - few students have the maturity or insight to bring these words strongly to life.
Skin of Our Teeth, the story of the Antrobus family in stone age Atlantic City, NJ, deals with indomitable humanity, and how we can prevail against all odds, but especially against our own impulses. It also brings up the consolations of literature and of past times.
Our Town is a simple little play about love and death, and how life is composed as a series of moments. It is so important to live in every, every, moment.
The Matchmaker is about living life to the fullest, even in the midst of grief and aging.
This makes these plays sound dreadfully simplistic, and full of high-school style morality. Thornton Wilder's writing is full of irony, wit, grace, kind humor, and style. His writing has a deceptive simplicity and rhythm. Read these plays to bring some beauty into your life.

About the Author
In many ways the life of Daphne du Maurier resembles that of a fairy tale. Born into a family with a rich artistic and historical background, the daughter of a famous actor-manager, she was indulged as a child and grew up enjoying enormous freedom from financial and parental restraint. She spent her youth sailing boats, travelling on the Continent with friends, and writing stories. A prestigious publishing house accepted her first novel when she was in her early twenties, and its publication brought her not only fame but the attentions of a handsome soldier, Major (later Lieutenant-General Sir) Frederick Browning, who married her.

About the Author
Mark Getlein arrived in New York to pursue advanced music studies at the Juilliard School, but he quickly became equally fascinated by the city's vibrant downtown art scene and magnificent museum collections. For a decade or so he led an interesting but precarious life as a pianist and painter. As a writer and development editor, he has helped to create a series of ground-breaking college textbooks in art and literature, including Art History (Abrams, 1995), A History of Art in Africa (Abrams, 2001), The HarperCollins World Reader, The Longman Anthology of British Literature, and The Longman Anthology of World Literature. This is his fourth edition as author of Living with Art.

Interesting - Virtually Identical to Old Editions

This is a pretty interesting book as far as textbooks go. However, if you're considering buying this book, be aware that the 8th and 7th versions are nearly identical to this one- and they probably cost a good $100 less. The only real difference is the pictures inside- some of them seem to change depending on the edition. A resourceful student could easily google a famous work of art that the teacher mentions in class- if a piece is famous enough to be mentioned in a textbook, someone's probably posted a picture of it on the Internet. Don't waste your money on a new book if you can easily score an older one.

Happy with purchase

The book arrived in a good shape as expected and as promised, with only minor cover wear and a few notes through out the book. It also costed me less than a half of what my college's bookstore was gonna charge! And it is the cheapest price I was able to find in a hurry at that time (January 2016).
Despite the lack of interest for the subject, I did enjoy reading the book. It's a good one to learn the basics of art history and art in general. I'm going to keep the book (for now), so I can re-read some of the chapters for pleasure without the pressure of tests and quizzes.

Surprised and pleased

Came super fast, a day before estimated shipping time. Expected less wear and tear but I didn't care considering all the pages were unmarked and the book wasn't falling apart at all! (Just some cover stickiness. Some warm water fixed it)
If you need edition ten of this book, save 120 dollars and buy the 9th. Everything in this book has been what I've seen in the 10th book.
Overall, for my first used/online text book order, I'm incredibly pleased and will be using this provider in the future. Thanks so much.
